The Fujifilm X-T1. |
Recently bought a used Fujifilm X-T1 bundled at an awesome price! Anyway, clubsnap (www.clubsnap.com) is an awesome place to find used camera equipment, which is a sad and happy thing, and this is the second point I would like to note down in this post.
The first is about the camera. I've been eyeing this camera for a very long time. Fujifilm is well known for its colour, and I know this since I owned the Finepix F50fd and the HS50EXR before, and the X-T1 has won many awards. Fujifilm makes some of the best mirrorless cameras with APSC sensors, the same sensor used in most cropped-sensor DSLRs, such as Nikon. They have been constantly improving their processors too, unlike Nikon :(
The set-back about this camera is the battery life though, because of the EVF, electronic viewfinder.
The other set-back is that it is a very expensive system.
Nevertheless I think I will enjoy taking photographs with this camera.
Nope I do not think I will take better photographs. If "better" refer to colours, maybe. But if "better" refers to the artistic value of the photographs, no.
Which brings me to the second point:
A better (or more expensive) camera DOES NOT equate to better photographs, artistically speaking of course.
True that a better camera has more functions and customization, it does not necessary mean with a better camera means you can take better pictures. A better camera does not help you compose your photos.
And there are people who keep changing system/camera because they read some reviews, or some photographers they are following switched to a certain system, etc. And this is probably why there are so many used camera in the market.
To me a good photograph is one that:
- tells a story
- is well thought out
- provides a interesting perspective
When I view photographs, I try to put myself into the photographer's shoes and try to find out what was he (or she) thinking and experiencing that made him create that shot. For example, when I share my bird photographs, I was trying to share the joy that I experience being able to capture a decent shot of a bird I spotted.
I guess, it is more important to enjoy the photo-taking process.
In case you are wondering, I bought the Fujifilm because of mobility and the colour. I may be changing out from my Nikon system soon :) Really love the colours of the Fujifilm, and utterly disappointed with Nikon.
Keep photographing~
